The place was already founded in the early Middle Ages and was integrated early into the municipality of Imperia. Garbella was involved in the feud which the various villages in Imperia had against each other over centuries. The dispute was ended in 1923.

From Genoa take the highway exit to Imperia Ovest, then follow the Via Tommaso Littardi up to the SS1, which you will then follow up to the Vicinale Garbella Street.
