Description

The dreamy village of San Lazzaro Reale lies in the lovely Impero valley - famous for its outstanding olive oil. The small holiday house boasts an attractive one-roomed apartment, Casettina da Pesca, which is right next to river. It offers enough room for two people and comprises a sofa bed as well as a beautiful dining table with a little fitted kitchen in the kitchen / living-room. The bathroom has both a shower and a washing machine. You can enjoy the morning sun on the terrace and listen to the playful splashing of the river.

Borgomaro, the main centre in the Maro Valley, once stood on the hill where there now stands today's Maro Castello (Castrum Macri), which is just a few houses lying at the foot of the ruins of what was one of the most important strongholds in the Oneglia hinterland.


The municipal district of Candeasco, which could only be reached by mule-track until last century, has a parish church dedicated to San Bernardino da Siena, who once passed through here, and is also the place of origin of the Marvaldi family, architects of the Ligurian Baroque style in the Imperia area.
With its castle and numerous fountains, Conio is famous for its white beans, while the specialities of San Lazzaro Reale are the eels caught below the fifteenth-century bridge. Villa San Pietro is known for its water sources and aromatic herbs; the town has many oratories dating from various periods.


The main district has an unusual shape: the houses are built on a number of levels in a row along the River Impero.

The church of Santi Nazario e Celso, the main parish church, is of early Christian origin.


The church of Sant'Antonio stands on the bank of the Impero: it preserves a poliptych by Guido da Ranzo and a polychrome marble pulpit in Baroque style; the external stone columns in the loggias may have been part of the original building.


In the past, this was a very rich town: it supplied Piedmont with the olive oil produced in its seven mills, which still link Borgomaro with this centuries-old tradition. Besides the excellent olive oil that you can taste at the local factories and the Taggiasca olives and refined olive paste, local foods also include some excellent fennel-seed cakes, "San Rocco" bread, Lenten focaccia and a speciality called "baxin".

San Lazzaro Reale is a small Ligurian Town with typical small alleys. A great feature is the well maintained bridge from the 15th century which spans teh Tresendo river.



The local church, built in the 16th century, has a beautiful triptych of the Virgin Mary with her child made by the painter Guidi da Ranzo. Today the locals live mostly from the land, mostly from olives. The speciality of San Lazzoro Reale is „Le Anguille“ – fresh eel, caught in the nearby rivers of Tresendo and Impero.

Imperia mit der Altstadt von Porto Maurizio und dem Strand in Oneglia. Die Altstadt von San Remo und Cervo. Die Betreuung durch die Besitzerin war sehr herzlich und zuvorkommend!

evtl SAT Fernsehen (Sat-Schüssel vorhanden aber nicht angeschlossen). Persönlich habe ich das nicht gebraucht. Alles andere bis ins Detail vorhanden (von der Küche übers Bad bis zur Balkon incl. Liegestuhl und Sonnenschirm Orte: Aurigo, S. Bartolomeo al Mare (wunderbare Altstadt mit fantastischer Kirche und Ausblick von oben über den Strand) Ausflugsziele: San Remo (Altstadt), unbedingt längere Wanderung durch Olivenwälder (anstrengend), Gradwanderung z.B. S. Bernardo di Conio - M. Aurigo - M.delle Valasse - P.SO DEL Lupo - M. Guuardiabella - Picco Ritto - Colle S. Bartolomeo. Wundervolle Aussichten auf der einen Seite Richtung Hochalpen, auf der anderen Richtung Meer und an die Hänge "gehängte" Döfer, Olivenhaine und Weinberge Sie sollten in ihren allgemeinen Beschreibungen darauf hinweisen, daß es in Italien a) eine Mittags Siesta gibt (in den Dörfen niemand auf der Straße) b) in der Nachsaison viele kleine Kneipen/Restaurants einfach geschlossen haben. Bei Wanderungen/Mountainbiketouren daran denken und Getränke mitnehmen !!!

Tadellose Ausstattung! Keine; das Optimum wurde erreicht. Von der italienischen Vielgemüsekultur vollumfänglich Gebrauch machen und vor allem eines geniessen: den unverwechselbaren Geschmack der lokalen Taggiasca-Oliven!! Zudem: Wandern in den nahegelegenen Olivenhainen. Die Stimmung spricht für sich. Auf Wiedersehen!
