Whale-Watching with a difference

Would you like to experience the whales and dolphins of the Mediterranean off the Ligurian coast at close range, and enjoy the experience free of crowds? You can, on Marco’s, Enrico’s or Luca’s boats from April until November! Decide for yourself whether to fish, to sit idlly in the sun or take a dip in the sea. Depending on your arrangement you can set off from Imperia, Alassio or Diano Marina. The tour starts at 8.30 a.m. and lasts till 6 p.m. Apart from lots of expert information, you will also be treated to a small Ligurian snack in between, as well as a delicious meal for lunch and the traditional aperitivo. Drinks are of course free while aboard the boat.

The boat costs, which are inclusive of the crew, come to €900 for the whole day. Up to 6 persons can be taken aboard the Proteus. Half-day trips can of course also be booked – and even here one can watch the dolphins very well. These last either from 7.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. or from 2.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. and cost €450 inclusive of the crew. Marco, Enrico and Luca also speak English and French as well as Italian

Fishing trips to Corsica and to Côte d’Azur

Daily trips by boat from Imperia (Porto Maurizio), Alassio and Diano Marina. Daily trips by boat

The daily trips are possible every weekday after consultation. You can set off with the crew from Alassio, Imperia (Porto Maurizio) and Diano Marina.

The duration varies according to the fishing techniques. Normally you will set off early in the morning for fishing on the coast or fishing with live bait, and return at noon. For pelagic or deep-sea fishing, you set off in the morning and return in the evening. Half-day trips can also be organized on request.

The price is calculated depending on the fishing technique, the number of participants, as well as the required boat (including diesel and equipment). Breakfast, a good lunch and fresh drinks await you free on board. Upon request, even fishing trips lasting several days with overnight accommodation on the boat (4-6 people) or a weekend special are possible.

Fishing techniques

Fishing with live bait

After catching them live (octopus, cuttlefish, horse mackerel, garfish), you use them as bait. You then move into the area where there are dentex, sea bream and groupers. There you fish with an extra lead weight, or using to the Downigger technique. You set off one hour before sunrise and come back at noon; you can also set off in the early afternoon and return after sunset (half-day trip).

Fishing along the coast

You can also go on the search for dolphin fish, bonitos, tuna and large mackerel. The best time for this is from the beginning of May to the end of November. We would recommend a half-day trip for this.

High-sea fishing

When you go out to the open sea, the distances vary depending, of course, on the distribution density of pelagic species from 5 mg to 30/40 mg. After you have cast 10 to 12 fishing rods with different baits such as kona, rapala or feathers, which are suitable particularly for catching middle-sized and larger fish like red tuna, dolphin fish, Marlin and white tuna, you will enjoy the quiet waiting on the bobbing ocean and its gentle spray. Fishing is done according to an agreement made between size and weight of the fish (for tuna fish, this is a matter following the principle of catch & release). Early mornings are the usual launch times, returning by late afternoon. But half-day trips are also possible. During such trips one catches mainly red tuna.

Deep-sea fishing

During deep-sea fishing you will fish at a depth of between 200 and 600 m. The catch is mainly large augen, hake, groupers, and large and small knife fish.

Vertical Jigging, Kabura, Inchiku and deep Jigging

You will go on the search for dentex, amberjacks, bonitos and others. You will find these mainly at isolated rocks and old shipwrecks in approx. 20 to 100 m depth. On request we can also use the vertical jigging in the depths for knife fish, hake and grouper (deep Jigging). Since 2009 they also use the Kabura fishing technique for catching Augen in a depth of 100-120 m.

Fishing in the night for cuttlefish and octopus

This fishing tour is something quite special and is interesting for all those who would like to experience something extraordinary. We leave the port before sundown and will meet cuttlefish and octopus after a short while. These are caught with the hand rod or with the standard fishing rod. Whoever wishes can have the latest Tataki technology from Japan shown to him by us.

Fishing trips to Corsica and to Côte d’Azur

On request we also undertake fishing trips lasting several days to the northern side of Corsica or to the banks of Saint Tropez and the Porquerolles islands located before it.

Fishing with long cords

We also organize special fishing tours with long cords (according to the local regulations) into deep waters and along the coast. Giltheads, hens, knife fish and hakes are usually the catch here. Upon request, we can organize the fishing trip in such a way that we plan the tour according to particular fish types.

Under-water fishing

Experienced divers can accompany you, on request, for spear-fishing. In a depth of 10 -40 m you will meet primarily sea bream, drumfish, conger and moray eels, and lobsters. Dentex and amberjacks are also possible.

Different fishing courses:

5-day course "Sport fishing" (at least 2 participants, max. 4 ) price €750/person (incl. boat, equipment, meals)

2-day Vertical-Jigging-Kabura-Inchiku course (max. 3 participants) price €250/person (incl., boat, equipment, meals)

2 times ½ day course "Fishing with live baits" (max. 4 participants) price €120/person (incl. boat, equipment).
